The call to create pieces with the theme, Links to the Past, inspired me to make this body of work. I decided on something with a Danish Modern feel, for my mom's heritage, with a design element derived from a classic California swimming pool, a kidney pool, for my dad who designed and built pools in this style. In the case of the brooch, the kidney shaped elements are arranged in a circular ring creating an unexpected interior spiral. These pieces are all bead-blasted for a satin finish, with a high polish edge and backside.
