Bodhi seed beads can be used for counting all types of mantras, as well as other prayers, prostrations, circumambulations, and so forth. This basic, traditional, one-of-a-kind mala has 108 small bodhi seed beads strung on heavy cotton cord. When not in use, it can be wrapped 3-5 times loosely around most wrists. Simply strung and finished with a guru bead on red cord. Handmade in Kathmandu, Nepal.
It was while meditating under a bodhi tree that Prince Siddhartha attained enlightenment and became the Buddha. The dark-speckled seeds from this fig tree thus have special meaning for all seekers of divine wisdom. "Bodhi" in Sanskrit means enlightenment; as an "enlightened" seed, many practitioners use these malas for their essence and inherent teachings within each seed.
Beads are about 14mm.
