A watch for hunting and fishing…
We are offering this very rare and unusual first series Solunar by Heuer that was manufactured for retail by Abercrombie & Fitch, a traditional outfitter for outdoor pursuits such as fishing, hunting and camping.
These first series watches can be identified by the recessed pusher and Valjoux movement (later versions had Schilds movements and a pump pusher).
The Solunar theory comes from the work of John Knight who devised a system based on the sun (SOLar) and the moon (lUNAR) for tracking the activity of animals for hunting and fishing. The sub dial is used to read the optimum moments for catching those critters - a very cool and useful complication !The 36mm steel case is in outstanding condition and the two-tone dial has a great patina. The watch will come on the pictured Bulang and Sons leather strap and has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
